Wow! What a cool website! and a cool render as well. How did you get the orange/yellowish glow on the metal trim around the top cover? Is that a light that is causeing that or a reflection? Did you add a Envi sphere map to the reflection color (forget if 3d has that ^^;, I use it in Maya some times) It looks so natural it brings it to life. This is my favorite of all your work... well besides the G-Man, we must not forget about now can we.

Again, wonderful job :w00t:

Thanks friend that means alot! The orage glow is an hdr map I put on for the background. I finally figured out how to render using hdr....and i love it! Going to be playing around with it a lot from here on out hehe. So you make the hdr map in the map editor..then go to enviroment and asign it to the background. The only reason you can't see it rendered in the background is because I have the large blue ground plane blocking it. So it shows up in the reflective materials of the object still. There is a way to assign it without having to us the background I believe, but I haven't figured that out yet. Thanks so much for the support on this piece! I'll let G-Man know you said that too he'll be stocked to be spoken of in the same conversation as this =D

Ah, I think I understand. In maya you can add a fake reflection effect by asigning a Envi sphere map to the reflection color, what that does is make a sphere that stays still while the object moves so it acts as a false enviroment that the object can reflect, then by assigning a image map to the Envi Sphere map you can have the object reflect a image mapped sphere that object is in without it apearing in the actualy render. I think that is basicly what you are doing just differant software and differant process. Sounds really intresting friend. Keep up the good work, let G-man know I said "Hi"

Yeah that sounds very similar. I think that's basically what max is doing when I did the hdr. I was rather fascinated by it to say the least :)
Thanks! And yes, G-man needs all the friends he can get! I will let him know =D
