Ok it's finally done!
Well some wires anyways. Not sure i'll have time anytime soon to do a full rendering with texturing and what not for this. This took several months working on this off and on along with my other stuff going on. I'm pretty pleased with the modeling. It doesn't have exactly the amount of detail I was originally intending for it, but this basically is a testament to how much I've learned in Lw's modeling interface. I finally feel I can model pretty much as well as I can with Max in there. Pretty fun project.
For those of you that have been waiting, AF scene should be next here this month ;)

Thanks so much for viewing!

Very well done, my friend. Nothing, absolutely nothing to crit in this model: it's clean, the topology is flowing, the detail are just right.

 and  again.

I think I will do the same to get comfortable with Houdini modeling tools: take on a project and going on with it while I do my usual things with XSI.

Thanks so much man! :excited:
I kind of felt like a hypocrite during the modeling process though. I'm not a big fan of real guns, but I like fake ones...is that odd?
Yeah, I've been multi-tasking projects for awhile now. I enjoy the freshness of working on different projects. I was working between Max and Lightwave for awhile there, but lately I've only been strictly working withing Lightwave.

No it's not odd at all... I'm a pacifist, but I did the military service. I like firearms and I can use them (well, if I still remember something from 20 years ago, that's it :giggle: ) this doesn't mean that I will ever like the idea to use one :)

I'm multitasking too, and as I said I need a serious project to get my hands wet with Houdini.

Very cool.
So what are you considering for your serious project with Houdini? I'm very curious :D

I was thinking of something simple to explore the new renderer (new for me... the Apprentice version doesn't allow me to use Mental Ray)... but maybe I will try something a bit more complex just to get a hang of the modelling tools... I saw a tutorial for making a procedural forest and then some particles moving around simulating fluid... that could be the one, I think.

Right now I have the free Apprentice version. If I like it, I'll switch to the Apprentice HD. I still think that a software like Houdini for 99$ is in the realm of the incredible, so I will really give it a try. :work:

Oo, an enchanted forest
(ok maybe you wern't planning on it being enchanted hehe).
That sounds like a great idea. Yeah 99 bucks is amazing for software, especially like that.
